I work three days a week in a fairly well known accesories shop (the clue’s in the name) and today was the first day of the post-christmas sale, it was horrific. Have you seen Dawn Of The Dead? With all the zombies out side the shopping center? Well that’s what today was like. There were over 100 people waiting outside the gates, once they opened all hell broke loose. A wall of bags was empty within 15 minutes, how do they bloody do it?! At the end of the day, i had to fill 8 bags with stuff that had fallen to the floor that we didn’t have time to tidy.
On the plus side, it was double pay so i can make back the money i lost out on whilst in Switzerland.
In more label-relevent news, the All Or Nothing and Chaos Days split CD (which you can get here – it’ll be on iTunes soon too, hopefully!) has had some great reviews which i’ll be uploading at some point, make sure you check out January’s issue of Rocksound for another one. The lovely people at Absolute Punk will be uploading an interview with Rich of All Or Nothing very soon, so look forward to that.

So, i was gonna do a massive blog about my travelling home experience (including a coach journey from the wrong airport – thanks snow!) but i’m lazy/havn’t had a chance.
Anyway, Merry Christmas everybody! I hope you all get what you want/drunk/well fed.

I just got the first mix of the first track through for our March release, and it’s sounding big! I’m exited to get this out, the band we’re releasing it for are really good friends of ours and we couldn’t be happier to be working with them. You’ll find out who it is in a week or so though.
This is my last night in the Swiss Alps, I’ve had a totally rad time with my girlfriend and parents out here. Would it be totally harsh to watch the movie Airplane on the plane home? Cause i think it’d be fucking funny!

This entire blog is probably just going to be me bitching about Parcelforce.
I’m gonna sound super grinchy, but Snow and Christmas ruin my life*. I sent a bunch of CDs to Tell It To The Marines for their CD release shows (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) for next day delivery on Friday morning – about half an hour before i had to go to the airport to head out to Switzerland – and they just got to the guys this afternoon, not long before they were due to play their second show. If you went to the show on Sunday expecting to buy a tee, then i’m really sorry!
Today, Four Year Strong put up the new track ‘It Must Really Suck To Be FYS Right Now’, they havn’t really moved anywhere from the first album, but it doesn’t matter – it’s a sick song!
*I don’t really mean this.

University and real life has definitely taken over my blogging, I felt this would be a good time to start again though
It’s amazing that a campaign set up over Facebook has got such a reaction, and a testament to how well viral advertising works and that people do take notice of these sort of things. If you don’t know what i’m talking about, then you’ve either been living under a rock for the past month and a half, or on Mars somewhere. Rage Against The Machine won the number 1 slot by approximately 50,000 sales, reaching over 500,000 downloads in just one week. How amazing is that?
I’m sure that the majority of people who bought the track don’t do it very regularly (don’t worry, i’m not gonna get into the whole Lily Allen, buying music debate too much), and i think (maybe hope) that this could be a positive catalyst for the music industry. Showing that music is infact worth the money, not just to stage a protest, but to help the artists out. In the UK, there are some fantastic independent record labels, who really put everything into the music we release – so with your Christmas/Hanukahh/Eid/whatever holiday you celebrate- money, why not spend your money on some of the people who put so much into helping us have such a flourishing music scene?
- Thirty Days Of Night Records have been putting out solid metal/hardcore records for the past 5 years. More notabley known for their work with Bring Me The Horizon, Gallows, and Dead Swans, TDON have recently put out some awesome releases by the likes of TRC, Santa Karla, and Closure. Seeing Faz’s work with TDON was probably a big reason i started All Aboard, check out their store, they have some really awesome merch, too.
- Small Town Records recently underwent a change, in the way that they have split into two categories. Side A releasing music by heavier artists such as Whitemare and Failsafe, and Side B working with poppier bands like Cuba Cuba and Klaus. (they once put out a CD by pre-Pharaohs band HPR too!)
- Walnut Tree Recrords have put out some fantastic CDs in the past few years, most recently the label put out Tiger Please’s debut EP/album thing. an ambitious 12 track effort – with each track featuring a full intro (get it from here. The label will soon be putting out a very limited CD by one of my favorite new bands – Viva Sleep.
- Fist In The Air Records is an awesome Kent based Hardcore record label run by my friend Jay. They’ve put out some rad CDs – check them out in their store
I’m running out of time/energy – and i’m sure you’re getting sick of seen all these blue links, but there are loads of other awesome UK record labels about, check out Foot And Mouth Records and Holy Roar cater for your metal needs, whilst Hassle Records and Big Scary Monsters Records work with some awesome math-pop/indie/pop-punk bands.
I may as well write a little about this label!
Over the past few months we’ve also released some CDs we’re very proud to be a part of, in our store you can check out CDs by the likes of Tell It To The Marines(iTunes), Pharaohs(iTunes), and an awesome split CD by All Or Nothing and Chaos Days. We already have 2 (maybe 3 soon!) releases planned for 2010, one in February (our first vinyl!) and a CD in March, we’re super stoked to be releasing these – and will be announcing the artists very soon.
It might be another month or so before i write another blog, hopefully i can keep this up again though!
Oh, and one final thing -Simon Cowell doesn’t own Sony Records!
